When several of Stacey's cheques are missing, she suspects Jeff's brother, Gary Samuels and does some investigating about him by getting closer to Jeff and visiting one of Gary's old nightspots. Colleen Smart, played by Lyn Collingwood, made her first appearance on 7 March 1988 and departed 23 May 2012. Colleen was introduced into the serial as a recurring character in 1988 until 1989. Colleen mainly served as a source of comic relief and acted as the busybody type character. Colleen was reintroduced again in 1999 with Collingwood reprising the role.

However, Carly overhears a conversation between Barry, Tom and Pippa where Barry reveals he and Julie do not have enough time for her but cannot tell Lynn the truth. Several months later, Julie makes a televised appeal for Lynn to return home and she does. Lynn returns shortly after Pippa gives birth to a new-born son, Christopher (Ashleigh Bell-Weir).
Philip, overhearing their conversation, decides to postpone plans. Philip arrives home while the store is set alight by Dodge who has a grudge against the owner, Celia. Philip dies in the fire and his body is recovered, leaving Stacey and Steven devastated. Dodge is later imprisoned and serves five years for the crime. When the serial began; it mainly attracted younger audience and featured stories that were relevant to them. While producers were happy with their audience, they wanted to attract older viewers too.

Decades later, when he thinks he is going to die following an explosion, Alf tells Roo that Martha did not drown, as Roo had been led to believe, and is still alive. Martha comes to Summer Bay House and meets Ryder Jackson , who asks if she wants to rent a caravan from Alf. She leaves, but later returns and comes face-to-face with Alf and then Roo. Martha explains that a friend informed her Roo had come looking for her. Roo and Martha talk, but when Roo asks why Martha left her all those years ago, Martha tells her she is tired and leaves. Martha later reveals that she has borderline personality disorder.

Months later, Alf calls Martha, but does not tell her why and soon hangs up on her. Martha comes to the Bay to ask him why he contacted her, but he tells her to go home. A couple of years later, Seven's head of drama, Alan Bateman, became desperate to get back into the soap market and began to work out how to launch another soap that was not a copy of Neighbours. While on a trip to Kangaroo Point, New South Wales with his family, Bateman began talking to locals who were "up in arms" over the construction of a foster home for children from the city. Seeing the degree of conflict the "influx of parentless children on a tight-knit community" was having, Bateman came away with the idea for a new serial. While Seven Network executives were unconvinced by the idea, audience research was positive.
Danny is the son of Gordon Farnsworth, a man who Morag Bellingham sentenced to prison, resulting in Gordon committing suicide. Danny begins a revenge campaign Morag by making threatening phone calls. He arrives in Summer Bay keeping his identity a secret and takes a job working for Morag as her assistant and moves in with her when she offers him a room. Morag's daughter, Bobby Simpson takes an interest in Danny and they begin dating.
Meagher thought that Martha was probably the love of his life, despite his marriage to Ailsa Stewart . He also joked about that Martha being alive may have made Alf a bigamist. Martha temporarily leaves after her borderline personality disorder causes her anxiety. Michael arrives in Summer Bay as the new owner of the local boat shed and begins staying in the caravan park. Ben Lucini takes an instant dislike to Michael because he had intended to purchase the business himself.
Frank then does some digging to expose evidence Brett's resort development of being a fraud. Bobby Simpson publicly humiliates Brett in revenge by accepting a date but getting together with Frank. Martin Dibble portrayed by Craig Thomson, made his first on-screen appearance on 17 January 1988, the show's pilot episode and left the show on 3 April 1990. Thomson landed the role after appearing in a soft drink advertisement.

She graduated as a lawyer in 2006, and now juggles a law career and her acting roles which are mostly on the stage. After Home and Away, Roger continued his acting career and played a politician in another Australian soap, 'Something in the Air'.
